Nest (عش/عشق)

ceramic, merino wool, wood, 5.5x5.5x6.7”, 2025

A piece contending with the tenderness of the hand, through material and subject. The ceramic bird, designed to fit perfectly in a cupped hand, is cradled by a wool one as a placeholder for my own: a perfect nest. In Arabic, the words for ‘love’ (عشق) and ‘nest’ (عش) are almost identical, evoking the inherent overlap between the two: the tenderness of the small, the smallness to be held by it all.
